Puyi Established Strategic Partnership with SWD

On November 16, 2016, the signing ceremony between Shanghai Waigaoqiao Design Co., Ltd. (SWD) and Weihai Puyi Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. was held at SWD, attended by top management of SWS, SWD and Puyi.

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.(SWS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Ltd.(CSSC), is a listed company whose comprehensive strength ranks in the top five globally. It has also earned the reputation of “China’s No.1 Shipyard”, with the highest degree of automation and the most advanced facilities in China. Weihai Puyi  Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. is the first Asian enterprise approved by classification society to provide marine exhaust gas cleaning system. Its magnesium method of desulfurization is capable of reducing sulfur content of marine exhaust gas to equivalent to the strictest IMO sulfur limit of 0.1%. This system has been approved by CCS, BV and LR. Compared with traditional desulfurization products, it is more compact, cost-effective and safe to operate, suitable for both new-built and retrofitting projects.

On October 27, the MEPC 70 conference passed the resolution of enforcing 0.5% sulfur cap in global sea areas from January 1, 2020, which means that since the enforcement, shipowners must take corresponding measures to meet the requirement, and scrubber is so far the most economical and practical solution available. SWS’s gesture of establishing strategic partnership with Puyi immediately after the enforcement date was determined, is a major decision made out of long-term study of the convention and in-depth investigation on Puyi EGCS. It fully reflects SWS’s vision of future shipping industry and its recognition of Puyi company. The combination of the two parties’ strengths will surely be able to provide shipowners with an ideal compliant solution, and further increase China’s competitiveness in the international shipping industry.
